What to Know About the Dubai Creek Tower

Here’s all you need to know about the Dubai Creek Tower.

1. Multiple sources of inspiration

As per reports, the design of the Dubai Creek Tower is drawing inspiration from the sails of traditional Arabian dhow ships, the minarets of a mosque, and the elegant lily flower. Its design includes steel cables that symbolise the ribs of lily leaves, adding to the aesthetics as well as the structural stability. This will make it a mesmerising sight to behold.

2. Designed to host multiple observation decks and experiences

Adorned with over 10,000 LED lights and with multiple observation decks and revolving platforms on the top, this sail-shaped building will provide a stunning nightly spectacle. Via these decks and platforms, visitors can enjoy unparalleled bird's-eye views of the city. Additionally, elevated gardens, inspired by the hanging gardens of Babylon, are supposed to adorn the observation decks.

3. Estimated to be around 928 - 1400 metres

The exact height of the Dubai Creek Tower remains undisclosed, with reported estimates ranging between 928 meters and 1400 meters. Its developer claims that it will surpass the Burj Khalifa.

4. Dubai Creek Plaza

At ground level, the Dubai Creek Plaza will function as a neighbourhood centre with retail, educational facilities, and more. It will be shaped like a clock and will have landscaping, palm trees, and water features spanning 0.5 kilometres – equivalent to the length of ten Olympic-sized swimming pools. One will be able to transition seamlessly from the tower to this innovative retail experience through a state-of-the-art underground extension. Additionally, the Dubai Creek Plaza Amphitheatre is also expected to be a part of the Plaza, where various events will take place.

5. World’s Highest Mosque and more

The Dubai Creek Tower is also expected to feature the world's highest mosque. Additionally, twenty floors within the tower will host hotels, restaurants, and residences. The prominent antenna atop the tower will serve broadcasting purposes.

6. Designed by Santiago Calatrava

The design for the Dubai Creek Tower has been laid down by Santiago Calatrava, a Spanish architect, sculptor, structural engineer and painter. He is known for some of the most iconic projects around the world, such as the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York and the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens.
