How to Claim Pet Insurance?

It is advised not to wait for the insurance claims to be processed because the pet insurance claims are reimbursed to the pet owner’s bank accounts. If your pet is suffering from an illness or has met with an accident, you can file for a claim with the required documents.

  • Vaccination Certificates
  • Death Certificate along with colored photographs of the deceased pet (In case of a claim under Mortality Benefit Cover)
  • Vet Medical Papers and Bill (In case of claims under Surgery Expenses & Hospitalisation Cover, Mortality Benefit Cover, Long Term Care Cover, and OPD Cover)
  • Copy of General Diary Entry lodged by Police (In case of a claim under Theft/Lost/Straying Cover)
  • FIR (In case of a claim under Third Party Liability Cover)
  • Copy of advertisement (In case of a claim under Theft/Lost/Straying Cover)
  • Hospital bill (In case of a claim under Hospitalization)
  • Court Orders (In case of a claim under Third Party Liability Cover)
  • Diagnostics Report (In case of a claim under Terminal Diseases Cover, Long Term Care Cover, and OPD Cover)
  • Colour photos of your pet with the newspaper as on the date of Claims Registration, with the date of the newspaper visible.
  • If your pet has an RFID Tag/ Microchip, a colour photo of the RFID Tag, which clearly captures the identification number will work too.
  • Any other documents if required by the Company to process the claim

Pet Insurance Claim FAQs

What is the waiting period in pet insurance?

Waiting Periods for Fresh Proposals:

• 30 days for any Claim for illnesses under any of Surgery & Hospitalization Cover, Terminal Diseases

Cover, Long Term Care Cover, OPD Cover and Mortality benefit Cover.

• 90 days for any claim under Theft/Lost/Straying Cover.

• No waiting periods are applicable on any claim under Third Party Liability Cover and any claim arising due to an accident.

No waiting period will be applicable in case of continuous renewals


Do I need to pay any amount while claiming my policy?

You do not have to pay anything to the insurance provider. However, you have to pay the service provider and then file a claim for the paid amount with the insurance provider. Co-Pay or deductible for certain sections will be applicable

How long does it take a pet insurance claim to be processed?

General time period is 15 days after all documents are submitted and queries addressed by the policy holder

My pet was stolen. What do I do next?

In case the pet is stolen, inform the police immediately. In this case, it is not necessary to file an FIR to get the insurance claim. Bajaj Allianz will accept a copy of the general diary entry to initiate the claims processing. The Insured shall intimate the Company by registering a theft/stolen incidence with in 24 hours from the event of loss. He/She shall furnish the Claim intimation number once he/she submits the final Claim document in event of no trace of the Insured pet within 45 days.
If the Insured Pet is not found within 45 days from the date of disappearance inspite of various attempts, submit a Claim for Theft or Straying to the Company
