Is It Possible To Get A Car Pollution Certificate Online?

Getting car insurance online is a common way to purchase your vehicle policy. While you can opt for getting your policy offline, getting it online is an easily accessible option. Many people would prefer it if most of the processes and documentations, especially the ones related to your vehicles, could be conducted online. But is it possible to conduct all these processes online? There are a few primary documents related to your car that you need to have handy, especially when driving the vehicle. These include your vehicle registration certificate or card, your driver’s licence, your car insurance policy, and your PUC certificate, i.e., the Pollution Under Control certificate. Of these, the former two are virtually permanent documents. You need not renew your driver’s licence or your vehicle registration as it is valid for years at a time. However, the same is not the case with latter two. Your car insurance policy can be valid for a maximum of five years and a minimum of one year. About a month before it is set to expire, you can initiate a renewal process for your car insurance online or offline. You can choose the mode that is convenient to you. The process of getting a new PUC certificate issued for your vehicle is also similar. *

PUC Certificate

The PUC certificate is usually valid for anywhere between six months to a year, depending mainly on the age of your vehicle. After the current PUC certificate has expired, you (the car owner) will have to get a new one issued. Not having a valid PUC is a traffic violation that you may be fined for, depending on the state/region you are in. The common practice to get a new PUC certificate issued is to do the process offline. You can go to any centre that issues a PUC certificate and get it done. The process usually takes a few minutes. You will be required to take your vehicle to the PUC centre as the vehicle is checked before the certificate can be issued. Once the vehicle is checked to confirm that it adheres to PUC standards of the region, a certificate is issued. This issuance can be a hard copy or a soft copy, depending on what the PUC centre offers. Once the certificate is issued, you are free to ply your car on the roads. Ensure that you keep this certificate in the car or on your person every time you are driving the car.

PUC Certificate Online

While the issuance of a PUC certificate is a process where your car needs a cursory inspection, it ends up being a fundamentally offline process. Rest assured that the process may not take more than a few minutes. However, some car owners may still want to see if the process of getting your PUC certificate can be initiated as well as completed online. So, is it possible to get your PUC certificate online like you can check car insurance online for quotes as well as purchase? While the entire process of getting a PUC certificate cannot be conducted online, there certainly are parts of the process that can be done online. Here are a few ways to get your PUC certificate online:
  1. You can take your vehicle to any of the authorised emission testing centres that issue PUC certificates. Once the emission levels of your car are tested, you will be required to pay the fees. Once this process is complete, the PUC centre operator will issue you a soft copy of the PUC certificate, which you can receive on your phone or via email.
  2. Another way to download your PUC certificate is by visiting the Parivahan Seva website. Under the ‘Online Services’ tab, you can choose PUCC. Here, you will be required to input the details of your vehicle, such as the chassis number and RC number. Now, you can download your PUC certificate.
Thus, it is possible to get a copy of your PUC certificate online, i.e., you can receive or download a soft copy of the same. However, you may not be able to complete the entire process online. Your car will need to be taken to the PUC centre to be tested for emission. That is an offline step that you cannot skip. Besides getting your PUC certificate reissued regularly, you should also ensure that your car insurance is renewed on time. Check an online car insurance calculator to get a quote for the policy you want. The process can be done entirely online unless you have opted for a pre-insurance inspection for your car so you may be able to get certain add-ons. The availability of some add-ons depends on the health and age of your car.*   *Standard T&C Apply Insurance is the subject matter of solicitation. For more details on benefits, exclusions, limitations, terms, and conditions, please read the sales brochure/policy wording carefully before concluding a sale.
