Difference Between Critical Illness Cover And Health Insurance Policy

Critical illness coverage and a health insurance policy serve distinct purposes despite some overlap in healthcare coverage. Women's health insurance for critical illness coverage is designed to provide a lump sum payment upon diagnosis of specified severe illnesses listed in the policy. It aims to financially support individuals during critical health crises, offering flexibility in how the payout can be used for treatment costs, lifestyle adjustments, or other needs.

In contrast, health insurance policies typically cover a broader range of medical expenses, including hospitalisation, surgeries, medications, and preventive care. They focus on overall healthcare management, addressing routine and emergency medical needs rather than solely catastrophic events like critical illnesses. Each type of health insurance plays a crucial role in safeguarding individuals' health and financial well-being, addressing different aspects of healthcare expenses and risks.

Things to Consider When Buying a Critical Illness Policy

When purchasing a critical illness policy, several crucial factors demand consideration to ensure comprehensive coverage:

  • Firstly, the illnesses covered should be assessed to align with personal health risks.
  • Evaluate the sum insured against potential treatment costs and lifestyle needs during recovery.
  • Understand policy exclusions and waiting periods to manage expectations during claims.
  • Consider premium affordability and renewal terms, including lifetime renewability options.
  • Lastly, review the insurer's claim settlement process and customer support reliability to ensure prompt and hassle-free assistance during critical times.
