Engaging in a yoga practice may prove to be beneficial for mind, body, and soul. Moreover, as you grow older, being physically active in some form may help you take care of your health better as well as maintain a better quality of life. If yoga is your chosen practice, ensure that you are regular and consistent at it. While physical activity is imperative, you should also supplement it with a healthy, balanced diet as well as any other measures that you may need to live healthy. Moreover, it is necessary to acknowledge that some health emergencies may come up unexpectedly, such as an accident or stroke. In these situations, you may require hospitalisation. To protect your finances against such emergencies, you may like to get a health insurance cover. To put it more concisely, it takes a combination of factors and consistency to ensure that you live as healthy as possible. If you are new to yoga, you may want to dive more into the benefits of each asana you practice and how it may benefit you. Moreover, as someone practising yoga, you may also want to take a look at how to get better at a pose and start practising advanced modifications. Let’s take a look at vrikshasana in yoga, and how and why you should practice it.
Also known as tree pose, vrikshasana is a common asana that one may come across when practising yoga. Relatively easy to perform, it may be suitable for beginners as well as advanced practitioners. However, it may take some time for you to get comfortable with this pose and hold it for the necessary amount of time if you struggle with maintaining your balance. While the term “asana” signifies pose, “vriksh” translates to tree. It is a standing pose that requires you to stand tall and balance on a single leg, thus engaging your foot, your hamstrings, as well as your core. It can be quite difficult to maintain this pose unless you know how to stay balanced. However, as counterintuitive as it may seem, you may be able to use this pose to develop balance and progress to asanas that are considered more difficult.
As with any yogasana, the tree pose is not to be performed as a standalone pose but rather as a part of your regular yoga practice. You may have to start in mountain pose to make your transition to vrikshasana. Start by lifting one foot and bringing it to the inner thigh of the other foot. Then, proceed to join your palms in front of your chest or extend your arms over your head. If this seems difficult, you may even extend your arms in front of you in a T-pose. To achieve better balance, try to focus on a single point in your sight. This may help you steady yourself better. You may hold this position for 30-45 seconds. If you are unable to do that yet, you may build up to it gradually. Repeat the same with the other leg.
Yoga is expected to contribute to your holistic wellbeing. Here are a few benefits commonly associated with the tree pose.
Furthermore, the pose is associated with the third eye chakra, sacral chakra, and root chakra. It is also said to loosen hip joints and alleviate symptoms of anxiety. It may also help you improve patience and concentration.
Yoga is one of the many ways for you to take a step towards better health. You may also choose any other form of physical activity that you enjoy and can stay consistent with. Furthermore, ensure regular health check-ups and renew health insurance plans on time. A Health Insurance plan may not be a replacement for the steps to enhance your wellbeing, but it is certainly a measure to use to create financial stability so you may be able to face a health situation. You may use a health insurance calculator to check how much you may have to pay for your policy.* Remember that practicing yoga is more about developing your self-care practice and improving with time, rather than being perfect at every asana. Be patient with yourself and take little steps every day to take care of your wellbeing. * Standard T&C Apply Insurance is the subject matter of solicitation.
