Grabbing a quick snack on your way to work is the new breakfast trend. Also, healthy home-made meals are replaced by easily available foods from your favourite fast-food joints. Kids these days prefer these foods and tend to fulfil their nutrition requirement. While it may be only satisfying for the tongue, there is very negligible nutrition value in these junk foods.

High intake of sugars and fats tend to suppress the function of the brain that helps in learning and memory formation. This phenomenon is especially observed in growing children when their learning is at its highest. Results displayed in a sudden inflammation in the hippocampus region of the brain, which is responsible for your memory and recognition.
Loss of appetite and digestion
One of the bad effects of junk food is overeating. One may end up eating more than they require due to the fluctuation in their blood sugar levels. It makes the brain demand more food than the normal requirement. Further, there are problems in the digestion of such foods, which add up to the harmful effects of junk food consumption.

Excess consumption of junk foods changes the chemical composition of your brain. This change makes your body more dependent on such junk foodstuffs and craves them more and more. These unhealthy habits, coupled with inadequate nutrition levels, hamper the brain and other parts of your body. Health nutritionists do not advise excess of processed foods as it has long term effects on your body.
So before you grab those chips or give in to your fizz drink cravings, think about all the harmful effects of junk food that affect not only your body but also your mind.
