Validity of Vehicle Documents Extended, Insurance Still Mandatory

At the onset of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, it became a challenge for vehicle owners to renew the validity of various vehicle documents. Given this crisis, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) passed the statement to all the states and union territories regarding the extension of documents covered under the Central Motor Vehicles Act 1989 and Motor Vehicles Act 1988. Therefore, all the documents mentioned below will be valid till 30th September 2021 if their validity expired on 1st February 2021 or is supposed to expire by 30th September 2021.
  • Road fitness certificates
  • Permit (all types )
  • Driving license (DL)
  • Registration certificate (RC)
  • Other related documents
Please note that the validity extension of vehicle documents does not cover the extension of the vehicle insurance renewal date. It is therefore mandatory to understand that the extension rule by MoRTH does not apply to any vehicle insurance policies. This also means that every motor insurance policy needs to be renewed as per their respective renewal date to continue the validity of the policies. If you own a bike, you need to have a bike insurance policy that protects you against:
  • Personal accident cover
  • Theft or burglary of the bike
  • Damage from natural calamities
  • Loss from man-made calamities
  • Liability of third-party damage from your bike
  • Financial loss due to transit of the bike
  • Financial loss due to stolen bike
So, if you have not yet taken a bike insurance policy or your policy needs to be renewed you can opt for the contactless renewal and purchase of the Bajaj Allianz two-wheeler insurance available on their website. If you face any difficulties during the online policy procurement process, you can contact the customer support team via email or phone. Similar to online two-wheeler insurance, there is an option for car insurance online. Having a valid car insurance certificate is a mandate on any day of the year, as specified by the Government. Car insurance is the means to secure the four-wheeler from any future contingencies. It comes into existence in the form of a contract between the insurance company and the car owner. It covers both third-party liability and comprehensive policy. The basic advantages of the car insurance policy are:
  • Cashless claims
  • Personal accident cover
  • Loss/damage protection
  • Unlimited third-party cover against any physical damage
Now that you are aware of the facts related to the validity of vehicle documents and insurance policies, it’s time to play smart.
