LET'S SIMPLIFY HEALTH INSURANCE

What is a top-up health insurance plan?

A top-up health policy offers additional coverage for people who have an existing health insurance plan or mediclaim policy. However, you can also buy it as an independent cover even if you are not insured by a medical insurance plan.

What is the eligibility for Extra Care policy?

The eligibility criteria for Extra Care policy is given below:

Entry age for proposer is 18 years to 70 years. The policy can be renewed for a lifetime.

Children from 3 months to 5 years can be covered, if both parents are insured with us.

Children from 6 years to 18 years can be covered, if both parents are insured with us.

Children from 18 years to 25 years can be covered as self-proposer or dependents.

Can I purchase this policy without having an existing health insurance policy?

Yes, you can purchase the Extra Care policy even if you are not insured with a medical insurance plan. However, the expenses up to the deductible limit, per hospitalisation, will have to be borne by you.

How does this policy help in saving tax?

Bajaj Allianz Extra Care policy helps you save tax up to Rs 1 lakh under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act against the premiums you pay. Here’s how you can save tax:

On the premium you pay for yourself, your spouse, children and parents, you can avail Rs 25,000 per annum as a deduction against your taxes (provided you are not over 60 years). If you pay a premium for your parents who are senior citizens (age 60 or above), the maximum health insurance benefit for tax purposes is capped at Rs 50,000. As a taxpayer, you may, therefore, maximise tax benefit under Section 80D up to a total of Rs 75,000, if you are below 60 years of age and your parents are senior citizens.  If you are above the age of 60 years and are paying a medical insurance premium for your parents, the maximum tax benefit under Section 80D is, then, Rs 1 lakh.

What is a deductible?

Deductible means the amount stated in your policy that will be borne by you with respect to each and every hospitalisation claim made within the policy period. Our liability to make any payment for each and every claim under the policy is in excess of the deductible. Each and every hospitalisation would be considered as a separate claim (except relapse within 45 days, which will be treated as the same claim).
